Protein Packed Saturday

I had a decaf caramel macchiato from Starbucks today and I swear it just puts me in the best mood. Harry and I (we tried to get Ruthie to come but she said she’s on a no caff diet right now) went at 5:30 this morning because the child wakes up at 5 everyday. It was so fun.

2018-11-17 06.34.33 2.jpg

Decaf duh

So, yesterday afternoon I went to a class at Alchemy (haven’t been for a while) and it was a blast. I went to the A10 since I’m just getting back into it and it kicked my bum. The workout had pull ups and I haven’t attempted a pull up since about March. Oofdah. But I gave it a shot and it wasn’t all that terrible. Except today. I def feel it today. I forgot how much I love working out in a class setting!

Today has been a busy day. After coffee, I came home and prepped my fave protein pancake recipe.

2018-11-17 06.34.31 2.jpg

Protein Pancake essentials

It’s really simple and so yummy. You take a cup of egg whites (I always add one whole egg), 1/3 cup of oats, a dash of baking powder and whatever spices you want. Sometimes I add tumeric. Today I went with cinnamon. You can also add protein powder, cocoa powder…the options are endless. Then you pour all that into a hot pan oiled with coconut oil and cook. I suck at flipping the thing because it’s giant so it always turns into a giant blob. But eating blobs is the most fun.

2018-11-17 06.34.29 2.jpg

YUM

The topping options are endless as well. Today I went with a little PB, some jam, a few dark chocolate chips, and some local honey. I might have licked my plate after. Only Harry and Ruth were here to judge me so that’s whatever. Oh, and whipped cream. Ruthie recently discovered her love for whipped cream as well and I always have to give her a little taste.

2018-11-17 06.42.06 2.jpg

Masterpiece

After downing my cake, I wanted to take Ruth for a run. But she was protesting the cold so I went by myself. I don’t know how far I went and I sure as heck didn’t go fast. I just took my time and enjoyed the snowflakes falling on me.

Next on the agenda, muffins! I found a box of Kodiak cakes muffin mix at Target yesterday and decided to try that with my fave easy muffin recipe. All you need is a box of cake mix, a can of pumpkin, and mini chocolate chips. Seriously, so simple.

2018-11-17 09.28.11 1.jpg

Choco-punkin

All you do is mix the cake mix with pumpkin and about 1/2 cup of water…add your chocolate chips and bake at 350-375 for 12 ish minutes.

2018-11-17 09.28.09 1.jpg

I love these muffins because they are so moist. I usually underbake them a tad so they are gooey in the middle. I offered Sam one but he politely declined. The options with these are also endless. Sometime I do a spice cake mix and rasins, or a white cake mix and white chocolate chips. YUM!

2018-11-17 09.59.19 1.jpg

True Beauty

I eat these for breakfast and dessert ūüôā

The rest of our Saturday was spent lamp shopping (fail), eating, going for a walk, drinking Coconut La Croix, snuggling, and eating Chipotle.

PS there’s a new Hallmark movie on tonight and we can’t wait to snuggle in with our muffins and a cup of decaf mocha.

Have yourself a merry night!

Help! I don’t know what to make for Dinner!

Another day, another dolla…isn’t that¬†what they say? For me, it’s like another day to spend dollas because lately I’ve been¬†wanting to shop like a mad¬†woman. Good thing I live¬†with Sam because he usually talks some cents (hehe) into me.

Deja Vu, it’s Sunday again. Harry has not been sleeping much during the day lately so I’ve been trying to entertain him, feed him (he’s had a shitty few days of feeding and I’m stressed about it but he’ll be fine), and¬†watch him smile. This morning¬†while feeding him, he smiled at me then did this creepy old man laugh. I almost spit out my¬†water…anyone else down the¬†water¬†while breastfeeding? It’s like as soon as the kid latches on, I become extremely parched and need some H2O.

Pause. Lets go back to yesterday because Sam and I¬†went out to lunch by ourselves and it¬†was fun yet very odd not to have Harry (shoutout to Grandma Lynn for¬†watching him yesterday. You’re the bees knees!). I missed him and it¬†was only like 4 hours¬†without him.

I¬†was able to go for a nice hike¬†with my dad (hello chilly¬†weather), get a haircut because my hair has been absolute shit since giving birth, and go to my favorite restaurant…Barkers!

2018-11-04 07.57.55 1.jpg

I¬†wanted to chop it all but Sam said he likes my hair long…

Back to Barks…They have the best french fries on the planet. Our food came and I downed the fries before Sam even took a bite of his¬†wings…I’m sure our¬†waitress judged me for cleaning my plate but IDC because I need all the cals right? Plus, I left a little ketchup so it’s not like my plate¬†was 100% cleaned.

Oh, and I had half a margarita and felt like a Goddess. Funny¬†what alcohol does to your mind ūüôā Every time I drink margaritas I get all these great ideas of things I’m going to do…like move back to Hudson (someone find us a cute little house on some land¬†with chickens!), become a lunch lady so I can take care of Harry and have summers off, run 5 marathons…you get it. I believe they call it liquid courage? Maybe I’ll follow through¬†with some of those things…except run 5 marathons because I think I’m done¬†with road marathons…trail running is¬†where it’s at people!

2018-11-04 07.57.57 1.jpg

Margaritaville?

So now it’s Sunday…my fave day of the¬†week currently especially¬†when it’s rainy out because it makes me feel like I don’t have to do much. Except I’ll probably do a lot. Sunday’s are always for meal prepping in my house. I have like 5 tabs open right now of¬†what to make. There’s a ranch pork chop, creamy¬†white chicken lasagna soup, chicken florentine lasagna, french onion grilled cheese (current lead), and beef stroganoff. Give me your vote and I’ll make it! I have the¬†worst time making decisions and I’ll probably just end up eating salad. LOL. NO.

Sunday’s also mean I get to go to the actual gym because Sam is home and can take care of Harry if needed. Due to daylight savings, Harry ate at 4:30 am¬†which¬†was perfect because that meant I got to the gym around 5:30 and I love getting there early. Thanks buddy for cooperating.

This morning I did the following¬†workout (I’ll try to explain it better for you Aunt Lori):

5 sets of 3 reps: Squat Cleans (Used 65 pounds)

Superset: 5 sets of 12 reps: Single arm swing snatch (used a 20 lb dumb bell)

Then…15 minute AMRAP (as many rounds as possible):

5 banded pullups (used the most assisted band because my pullups are no¬†where near to¬†where they used to be…but that’s OK, I like a challenge)

10 pushups on a box (because my boobs hurt too much to touch the floor)

15 slamball hang to overhead

20 slow air squats

*I ended with a minute of box step ups just for funsies*

Then I did 4 intervals on the rower of 90 seconds row + 30 seconds arms only row

Then I¬†went home and downed some coffee and oatmeal. Oatmeal has been my jam for breakfast the past couple days¬†with skim milk, rasins, and brown sugar…keeps me regular ya know? It also brings me back to childhood because I swear my dad used to eat it like that but that could be a made up memory.

2018-11-04 07.57.51 1.jpg

That’s a dumb bell

I really hope to organize the house today and get up our bathroom mirror. I need to get rid of some kitchen stuff¬†we don’t use and go through my closet. I think I’m going to put my maternity clothes in a separate closet but that sounds like a lot of¬†work right now.

I also¬†want to order more holiday scented candles (like I said above, I¬†want to spend $) from Amazon but I don’t think Sam¬†will be too thrilled¬†with me. I’ll keep you updated on my candle sitch.

Okay friends, that’s today’s update on my super exciting life. Let me know your vote for dinner.

Thanks for tuning in…until next time ūüôā

BYE!

Sunday’s are for Chores and Shopping

Good morning! I’ve been up since 5:30 am feeding a hungry baby and now I’m¬†wide awake and ready for a Sunday funday!

I’m also very excited because I just ordered¬†these shoes¬†and can’t wait to try them on. I don’t know about you but I’m very into online shopping…except¬†when you have to make returns. I hate that.

Yesterday¬†was a busy day in the¬†wakefield household. You see, having a new baby means lots of laundry because lots of poop and pee and spit up. So, it¬†was a very convenient time for our¬†washer to break…NOT. Sam thinks it’s my fault because I shoved a huge comforter and pillow in there but I think it’s time¬†was just up. So¬†we took Harry to Home Depot yesterday and let him pick out the new¬†washer. He did a good job and didn’t even pick the most expensive one…win! He also picked a dryer so¬†we got that too…you know you’re grown up¬†when you get excited about a new appliance.

Yesterday morning I also attended my first Alchemy class in¬†what feels like a year (I think it’s been like 3 months?). It¬†was hard and I realized my core is SO¬†weak after having Harry (Had to do planks from my knees!). I took it easy, used lighter¬†weights, and modified movements I¬†wasn’t comfortable¬†with. It¬†was really nice to get in a group setting and get in a good sweat. But holy cow am I sore today…a good sore though.

This morning it is freaking freezing out so I decided to skip my Costco Pumpkin muffin and make a large bowl of oatmeal instead. I was feeling nice and spicy so I zipped that bowl up with some lovely flavors. It looked a little something like this:

1/2 cup of oats

Large sprinkle of tumeric

Large sprinkle of cinnamon (Vietnamese from Penzy’s…only cinnamon you should ever buy)

*I never measure my spices, I just dump them in*

Handful of crasins

I topped this with some homemade pumpkin butter and local real honey. YUM. I always forget how much I love oats until I eat them. Nice and warm, perfect for a chilly fall day.

Speaking of chili, I love chili so much but am trying not to eat it on account of beans and breastfeeding. So today I’m hoping to prep my other fave fall soup from¬†PaleOMG. This soup is so easy to make and I buy the already chopped butternut squash. HIGHLY recommend. I’m also planning on making something in the slow cooker because I haven’t used that once this fall, some chocolate chip cookies, and overnight golden milk oats because now I’m on the oat train. Oh, and maybe some¬†fun fetti donuts!

Sunday’s are normally for Football but not today. Since our¬†washer isn’t going to arrive until Nov 6th, I’m using my parents¬†washer to do laundry a couple times a¬†week (I feel like a college student). So today¬†we¬†will be making the trek to Hudson for laundry, some Harry introductions to friends, and *hopefully* a nice¬†walk at the State Park. Yahoo! Sounds like a fun filled Sunday if you ask me!

Now I gotta go #2 because I had coffee and oats and that’s a deadly combo…TMI but¬†who cares I’m sure you’re about to poo too (pretty sure Harry’s pooping right now too).

Have a lovely Sunday my friends. Thanks for reading, I appreciate you all.

XO

Thursday Things

Man, it’s been a busy¬†week. I thought time¬†would slow down being on maternity leave but nope! It just seems to go faster!

Harry turned 2¬†weeks old on Monday and I feel like he’s letting me get a little more sleep each night. Thank you buddy, I appreciate that. I still am feeling a little stressed about the¬†whole breastfeeding thing and might visit the baby cafe either this afternoon or next¬†week. I just¬†want to make sure he’s getting enough nourishment! He has his 2¬†week check up tomorrow so I’m excited to see if he’s growing/where his¬†weight is.

So, lets chat fun things. The¬†weather here is shit. It’s been raining for the past 5 days and now today the high is a measly 39 degrees. I NEED SOME SUN. So, to battle the gloomy blues, I’ve been super into baking. Last¬†week I made pumpkin donuts, this¬†week it¬†was apple donuts. I just searched online for a recipe but I¬†want to start experimenting and making my own recipes!

The apple donuts¬†were baked and then dusted¬†with cinnamon and sugar and seemed a little dense but I still think they tasted amazing. Served¬†with a side of scramble eggs and avocado…yum! I ate 10 of them in 3 days…LOL. Oops.

2018-10-11 06.47.20 1.jpg

Apple do-nuts or don’t-nuts

I also tried my hand at a pumpkin spice latte because¬†we all know the ones from Starbucks and Caribou have like a million grams of sugar. If I’m gonna eat a million grams of sugar I’d rather have a couple donuts (or 10) ya know. So I took some milk and pumpkin and cooked that in a pan for about 5 minutes. Then I removed that from the heat and added a little maple syrup (thanks Uncle Danny), vanilla, pumpkin pie spice, and brewed coffee. I’d say it’s pretty fantastic. And I feel a lot better drinking this knowing there’s not a ton of unnatural crap in it.

2018-10-11 06.47.16 1.jpg

Baby Spice? Nah, Pumpkin Spice

Now, today is my 29th Birthday. It’s crazy how as you get older (and have kids and dogs) birthday’s get a tiny bit less exciting. I mean obviously it’s fun to know 29 years ago my mom¬†was going through¬†what I¬†went through 2¬†weeks ago (sorry mom-I now know the pain you¬†went through!). But as I age, I just care less about getting presents and more about spending quality time¬†with the people that mean the most in my life. I’d much rather get coffee and chat than anything in the¬†world. I’d much rather take my dog to the state park for a hike on a fall day. I’d rather receive a hug from my mom and dad than a cake. You get it.

Of course a Birthday brings about a¬†whole new year. 365 days to grow, change, adventure, set goals, accomplish goals. If you think about it, 365 days seems like a long time but it’s really not. It sure flies by. So here’s a list of things I’m hoping to see/do in my 29th year.

-Teach my son to be a caring, loving human

– Travel to Banff/Lake Louise

-Try one new thing each month (new recipe, workout class, book)

-Sign up for a new race (hello Lutsen 50K??)

-Donate to puppy shelter

-Send more cards

-Adventure with Sam

-Make wine! Go on a wine tour

-Re-decorate/paint my house/fix it up/plan and save for new house (more like 5 year plan hehe)

-Blog consistently because writing is my true passion

-Relax. Stop being so hard on self.

-More homemade recipes…stop spending $5 on coffee!!!!! SAVE $$$

-Clean out closet-get rid of anything haven’t¬†worn in past year

-Learn to live in the moment and stop wishing for next week/month/year

It’s just a start but having these things¬†written down helps me see¬†what I hope to accomplish and stay on track.

Do you have any goals you want to accomplish in the next year? How do you stay on track? I would love to hear your tips/tricks!

Now it’s time to catch up on laundry, dishes, and This Is Us (I’m only on season 2!).

Have a fabulous fall day.

XO

Recovery

Good morning. I sit here sipping a tumeric mocha hot chocolate (leftover from yesterday morning…so freaking good), thinking about all sorts of things. I’m a big list maker and every day I¬†write down a list of things I¬†want to accomplish in my planner. Most days the items are things like meal prep,¬†workout, laundry, run, and so on. Lately, my lists have consisted of baths, baby feedings, cleaning, laundry,¬†walks, and naps. My how things have changed.

2018-10-07 06.17.30 1.jpg

Christmas Mug!

As soon as you bring a child into the¬†world, everything changes (for the best). Yes, I still do things for myself but now my baby comes first. Yesterday, Harry had a day. He¬†was gassy, fussy, and nothing seemed to calm him except a ride to grandma and grandpas house. I tried singing to him, snuggling him, feeding him, changing him…he just couldn’t get happy. Normally I’d be a mess. I’d cry, freak out, become extremely stressed….but I’m learning I need to remain calm. Everything¬†will¬†work itself out. He’s a baby and he’s going to have good days and bad and I¬†will take each day as it comes ūüôā He’s just so cute I don’t like seeing him¬†with a sad face.

2018-10-07 06.17.29 1.jpg

Tummy time! He’s already starting to hold his head up for a couple seconds!¬†

So, now that the baby’s here, I’ve been thinking about my recovery plan. How soon can I get back into¬†working out, eating protein shakes, running…all the things I love to do. I’ve been reading and most things say¬†wait 6¬†weeks. At first my thoughts¬†were…”6¬†weeks!? I can’t¬†wait 6¬†weeks! I¬†will lose all my endurance and muscles and never be able to pick up a¬†weight again.” HAHA Haley, stop. You just pushed a baby out of yourself. Give yourself a break (a constant daily reminder).

You see, I thought I’d have the baby and be back to¬†working out like normal in a¬†week or two. LOL. Little did I know my body¬†would need time to recover and rest. I tried doing pushups and could hardly eek out 2 from my knees. It also didn’t feel extremely great on my stomach/uterus. So I stopped. At that moment, I vowed to give myself the full 6 weeks to let my body heal. Yes, it’s freaking hard especially because I’m used to going going going all day. It’s hard for me to sit still. But I’m trying. Family walks have been a lifesaver. Lifting the baby has been a good arm¬†workout. I¬†will be alright, I just need to keep telling myself to take it easy and enjoy this time right now.

Like I said above, I’m a big list maker. So I already started making lists of things I do¬†want to do once I’m back on the physical fitness train…it looks a little something like this:

  1. EASE back into it. Start with 10 minute workouts and work up to 20 minutes.
  2. Start with 2-3 days of working out and work up to 5 days.
  3. 2 full rest days a week (soak in the tub, take a walk).
  4. Start with all body weight and slowly add weight when ready.
  5. Focus on strengthening the core muscles.
  6. Running-start with 1 min of running, 1 min of walking and work up to 5 min running (get some solid new kicks for motivation).
  7. Sign up for a spring trail run for motivation (Hello willow river trail run!).
  8. Try a new class (Barre, yoga, flyfeet, orange theory…)
  9. EAT more veggies ūüôā
  10. Give myself a break. No negative thoughts.

I’m hoping to get a¬†weight bench at home so I can do this stuff¬†while Harry snoozes but every one I’ve looked at is SO expensive and I’m trying to save money for Harry’s college fund so any recommendations on gym equipment¬†would be gladly accepted.

Now for nutrition, I’m really trying my best to eat nutritious foods that¬†will make Harry nice and strong. Although my sweet tooth has def showed back up since giving birth. AND all I¬†want is milk…chocolate milk,¬†white milk…all milk! So¬†weird because I¬†wasn’t a huge milk drinker before. Maybe it’s because I’m expressing so much milk to my son that my supply is depleted? LOL.

So meals have looked like this:

Breakfast: 2 eggs with spinach and tumeric + 2 homemade pumpkin donuts + a small coffee or tumeric mocha

Snack: Fruit (apple or banana)

Lunch: Salad or soup (thanks to everyone¬†who has brought us meals!)+ roll or bread + handfull of M&M’s-I haven’t had plain M&M’s for ages and they are seriously the best thing right now.

Snack: Handful of potato chips or bowl of cereal

Dinner: Apple Beef meatballs with gravy, butternut squash, apple crisp, MILK.

2018-10-07 06.45.01 1.jpg

Thanks mom!

As my 29th Birthday is less than a¬†week away, I’m trying to reflect on how I can live my best life for me and those around me. Here’s to making goals/lists, being challenged, exciting adventures, new experiences, and YOLO-ing.

Have a fantastic football Sunday. Go Pack! Go Brew Crew.

XO

Third Tri Road Trip

I’m sitting on the front stoop as I reminisce (I can never spell that¬†word) about last¬†weekend’s road trip. You see, as a child, my family and I¬†would travel to South Dakota every Labor Day¬†weekend to see the Badlands, Mouth Rushmore, and the bison. Back in March, my sister and I planned to do this same trip and we picked August because I probs won’t want to do much besides eat ice cream and sit on the couch next month. My¬†lovely parents came¬†with too so¬†we packed the 4 of us into their Suburban and made the 9+ trip out¬†west last Thursday morning.

First off, I love road trips. My mom got us all Yeti’s for the trip and they rock. My dad controlled the music and¬†we really enjoyed the Roadtrip channel on Sirius XM. Perkins¬†was our first stop of course¬†where¬†we shared a cinnamon roll as a starter. I¬†went¬†with the banana blueberry pancakes and ate every last bit.

2018-08-15 06.37.33 2.jpg

Bumpin with dad outside Perkins!

After breakfast¬†we hit the road again and made stops about every 2 hours because my bladder couldn’t handle much more than that.¬†We arrived in South Dakota around 3PM Thursday and checked into our first cabin right in the Badlands (PS I never knew the Badlands¬†were a National Park!). Let me tell you, the Bandlands always take my breath away even though I’ve seen them many times. After checking in,¬†we unpacked, relaxed on the porch, then hit up the lodge for a yummy dinner of bison burger. Yes, I think it’s¬†weird that my favorite animal also happens to be my favorite food. Oh¬†well.

Everyone was pretty tired so we hit the hay nice and early. My sister and I woke up before sunrise to take a gorgi sunrise run to a really nice overlook. How romantical. Then we did a nice 40 minute hike through the Badlands before heading back to the lodge for breakfast and coffee. I love breakfast. I love road trips. I love bison.

2018-08-15 06.37.32 1.jpg

Badlands at Sunrise

After packing up our cabin,¬†we made our next stop at¬†Wall Drug. Yes,¬†Wall Drug is an odd place but I feel like you have to make the stop if you are in the area. It’s a good place to buy crappy souvenirs except I did find a bison crossing sign for Baby¬†Wakey’s nursery! PUMPED.

We left¬†Wall Drug¬†with and ice cream cone and all¬†was well in the¬†world. Our next stop¬†was one of the best places ever. The Mount Rushmore KOA. It seriously is so nice there. There’s heated swimming pools, Basketball Courts, restaurants, ice cream, a pancake breakfast….sounds like a bowl full of fun if you ask me. It’s also about a 10 minute drive up to Mount Rushmore from the KOA. I just love it there.

After a delicious dinner of beef short ribs,¬†we made our¬†way up to Mount Rushmore to check on the President’s. Yeah, it’s still pretty cool to see those faces carved in the rock. Another must stop if you’re ever in the area.

That night¬†we played 5 Crowns then fell fast asleep in our little camper cabin (NO AC but¬†we survived!). Moll and I again¬†woke up and took a nice little run around the KOA before heading to the all you can eat pancake breakfast. All of us could only fit our 3 pancakes and didn’t get to go back for seconds. BOO. But those pancakes…yum. So fluffy.

The rest of the afternoon¬†was spent driving the Needles highway and through Custer State Park. This is¬†where the Bison live! I¬†was getting a little sad because¬†we¬†were almost to the end of the park¬†when¬†we turned a corner and holy shit there¬†were probably at least 100 bison roaming the land. It¬†was insane. They¬†were blocking the streets, in the¬†water…one even rubbed the side of the car. LIFE MADE.

That night¬†we¬†were staying at one of the coolest places ever…Sylvan Lake. Our cabin¬†was right on the edge of a cliff and overlooking the mountains (I call them mountains…I guess they’re hills). It seriously is unreal the location of this place. The resort has a lake¬†where you can rent kayaks (apparently¬†we missed the cutoff for that though), and a fantastic restaurant. For dinner,¬†we ate on the restaurant’s patio and it¬†was glorious. Everyone had adult beverages but since I’m carrying a child, I ordered a chocolate milk. Best decision ever. It¬†was like homemade chocolate milk. Topped¬†with mass amounts of¬†whipped cream. And a cherry. I could cry thinking about the beauty of that milk. I also must LOL at the fact that the children next to us¬†who ordered chocolate milk did not get their’s in a fancy glass¬†with¬†whipped cream and a cherry…perks of being prego.

Dinner¬†was amazing. Our appetizer of mango curry shirmps¬†was devine. My bison stroganoff¬†was one of the best things I’ve ever had. And to top it off, the apple pie¬†was so good. Ugh, great last night!

2018-08-15 06.37.26 1.jpg

View from our cabin

After sitting by the fire for a¬†while, I¬†went to bed nice and early because I’m sleeping for 2. Sunday morning¬†we¬†woke up and¬†were on the road by 6 AM to head back home. Oh, and¬†we stopped at McDonalds for breakfast. I had an Egg McMuffin. I haven’t had an egg McMuff in years and it¬†was just the icing on the cake to a fun trip.

It¬†was a blast and I’m so glad my future son¬†was along for the trip. Thanks mom and dad for the food, fun, and matching hats!

I leave you¬†with a pic of my belly shelf. It’s the perfect size for the remote, a phone, or even my glass of¬†water. How convenient.

2 more days til the¬†weekend peeps. I’ll update you on¬†week 33 later because I’m too tired right now.

The Babymoon

Another week has flown by, little dude is growing by the day, and I’m starting to slow down in almost every daily task. I still feel pretty darn good considering we have less than 10 weeks to go!

This last week I haven’t had much of an appetite but when I do, it’s a force. I’ve been craving pizza (hello Margharita from Punch Pizza), ice cream, and milk shakes. Also BBQ chips…weird because I’ve never loved that flavor.

Workouts this week have been pretty good. A good mix of full body stuff, weights, and some cardio…Although running is getting a little difficult… might give that a rest soon.

Now for the main topic of this post…Baby moon! Sam surprised me with a little getaway to a town called Bayfield, WI last week. We had the most lovely time and the weather was just perfect.

I kept a journal (per Sam’s request) and am thinking maybe one day I’ll publish a travel journal…LOL.

We left our house at 10AM Sunday morning and made a few pit stops along the way. It took us about 4 hours to get there but it was worth the drive. Bayfield is on Lake Superior and just plain gorgeous. Our motel was right on the water and the front desk lady was just the cutest.

We kept a pretty low key itinerary for the most part. We did a lot of walking around then sitting on patios with beverages (beer for Sam, H2O or lemonade for me).

We ate a ton of good food, especially our breakfast Monday morning. We hit up a little joint called The Fat Radish. I had the most amazing pumpkin chocolate chip pancakes and a lavender latte. OMG. I could eat that daily.

It was good to have all that fuel because right after breakfast we hopped on the Fairy to Madeline Island. The ride over was beautiful. We sat on the top deck and got some pretty amazing views of the lake.

Once we got on the island, we rented our selves some bicycles (Sam was voting for mopeds but I was not into that), and headed off on a 15 mile round trip to Big Bay State Park. We did a little Lakeshore hike there and scoped out the campground. I really wanted to rent kayaks but was too afraid I wouldn’t pass the safety test on account of my belly is the size of a basketball.

After the bike ride we stopped at The Beach Club for a snack and a drink. We then took a nice walk to the Marina and stopped at a little Pub where the waitress specially made me a fresh strawberry and soda water. She was a doll. Everyone on the Island was so friendly and I’ve never gotten so many congratulations on my belly.

The waitress told Sam he could take his margarita in a to-go cup because apparently you can walk around like Vegas on Madeline Island. So fun!

We hopped back on the Fairy around 3PM then hit up a rooftop for some more hydration.

Since it was our last night, we decided to do dinner then dessert. We had dinner at the MannyPenny Bistro (Great chicken fajitas), followed by an insane dessert at the Pier Plaza (I think this was the name). I went with the monster carrot cake because duh and because I’m feeding a growing boy. Sam chose the chocolate lava cake. We were both very satisfied with our choices and it was the perfect ending to a super fantastic Baby moon.

This week I’m hoping to paint the nursery and get up the cacti decals! Other than that, I’m just cooking. and cleaning, and hanging by the pool with my mom.

Have a lovely summer weekend!
