Good morning. I was so excited to wake up this morning because A) it’s Friday (I have the day off of work) and B) I got to use my new latte/cappuccino/espresso maker this morning. My mom-in-law gifted me this special gift for XMAS and I am so thankful. Now Sam and I can make homemade lattes at the press of a button. I’m working on perfecting my craft and then I’ll invite you all over for a bevy. PS they also gifted me socks with real pictures of Ruthie on them…the sweetest gift ever ❤
So I went back to work on Monday. It was super hard but I didn’t cry because I know Harry is in good hands this week with his daddio. Since Sam is a teacher, he gets winter break and we actually timed it pretty well. Maybe Harry showing up a week early wasn’t such a bad thing 🙂
Next week Harry starts daycare with Aunt Alex (I am not calling it daycare though…that sounds like prison to me. I think I’ll call it funcare) and we are so thrilled to have family watching our little dude. It also helps because then I can get unlimited pictures and videos sent throughout the day so it’ll almost be like I am still with him.
Now, can you believe Christmas has already come and gone. I knew it would go fast but thought maybe this year it would seem longer due to maternity leave. Meh wrong. It seemed to go even faster.
I tried everything to enjoy the holiday season (holy shit we baked so many cookies this year, I watched every Hallmark movie, we got a real Christmas tree, and I drank peppermint hot cocoa every day from November to December) and you know what…looking back it was a pretty fantastic holiday season. I need to turn my negative nancy attitude into positive patty STAT.
Sam and I were so lucky to see all our family, spend time together with our baby and pup, plan goals for 2019, do some house work, and go to our favorite restaurant Moe’s like 12 times. I just always get a little sad once Christmas ends (I know I’m not alone in this) and am trying to change that this year. In the meantime, here’s some fun pictures of our matching PJ party 🙂
So here’s to 2018 being probably a top 2 year for our little fam. There’s so much to be thankful for and I am going to remember that.
Like most people, 2019 brings on some excitement as it’s a fresh start. I’m not typically into New Year’s resolutions because I don’t think they last and I feel like you can change your life at any time during the year. I do like to come up with some yearly hopes and dreams though…I guess it’s kind of like a resolution list IDK I’m nuts. This year I’m all about chasing dreams and going for what I want. You probably don’t care to read another list of things someone is going to do in 2019 but in case you do (or need ideas for your own list) here’s a snippet of THE LIST.
2019 is gonna be a good year, I can just feel it.
-Spend as much time with my family and friends as possible
-Call my sister and brother at least once a month (I hate talking on the phone so this is a biggie)
-Cut back on sugar (for at least a week LOL)
-Take a cooking/baking class at Cooks of Crocus Hill
-Do something BIG that scares the crap out of me but will make me grow in so many ways
-Become more involved in the local community
-Teach Harry how to swim
-Focus on the people around me and put my phone down (getting rid of Instagram has helped with this already)
-Perfect my latte making skills
-Sign up for a trail run
-Learn how to make a damn good donut
-Travel to a new State (San Diego maybe??)
-Plan Harry’s 1st Birthday Party
-Live in the moment, stop wishing for time to go by, be happy with everything this life has so far given me, and write down 5 things every day I am thankful for
So here’s to a damn good 2018 and a freaking fantastic 2019. Hoping you have a great rest of the year and are able to spend some time with your friends and family as the year comes to a close.
Remember, there is always something to be thankful for ❤
